Care package

I'm celebrating today because my USPS tracking is telling me that the care package we sent last week has made it to China! It is the oddest feeling, knowing that something seemingly so inconsequential-- in this case a blanket, an album, some toys, some soft books, and 2 little outfits-- can bring an adoptive parent halfway across the world to tears. As I packed up this little package, oozing with love, I found myself just wanting to hug and kiss every little item, knowing that in a week or two, they would find themselves right in the arms of the very little one we wait so impatiently for. What a gift she is to us and she doesn't even know it yet...

I also wanted to say a little about Ping Ping's name. With our two boys, we decided to keep their names to ourselves until the day they arrived. In Timothy's case, it was probably a good thing because a mere three days before we had him, we changed it from Andrew to Timothy (Andrew being bumped to his middle name). With Ping Ping, though, we are having a bit of difficulty knowing when to announce her new name. I say we tell all when we have our LOA from China (hopefully in not longer than about 60 more days). LOA is basically China saying yes you can have this child. DH wants to wait till we get her from China, but I think that's torture! I bring this up because as we were filling out the DS-230 (for her visa), we found ourselves having to list her new name. So, we got to see it on paper, official and all just the other day. It's a pretty cool feeling :) And, not to spoil the surprise, but Zhiping will indeed be her middle name. I know you're all just on the edge of your seats. Too bad.

I remember feeling some of the same feelings you are describing with sending a care package! (By the way, we sent that same picture cube!!). I ended up sending her WAY too much stuff (Did 2 care packages too). I hope the nannies do take pictures of your sweetie pie. The orphanage in Taiwan did such a great job filling up my two cameras that I sent... ofcourse, it's almost like they took all the pictures in one day :) It is really neat to see some of the pictures later once you're home. Praying you receive your LOA soon!

We haven't "talked" in awhile since you left ASIA, but I want to CONGRATULATE you and your family on your daughter in China!!! She is beautiful! I am so very excited for you!!!

We recently withdrew from ASIA/CY too due to lack of movement. We are with Gladney/TWCA now and we feel relieved to be in a program that actually has referrals!

Good luck with everything and I look forward to following your journey to China and gotcha day!
