1. Lily and I are doing 180 degrees better-- in fact, as predicted by many of you, she really prefers me now! Thank you, Lord!
2. Our biggest issue right now hands down is sleep. We get a fair amount of sleep about every other night. The odd nights, though, are NOT pretty with lots of scratching, screaming, crying, trying to hit her head on the wall, etc. It is really heartbreaking to watch.
3. She has the prettiest dark brown hair. And I have no idea how all you people with little girls come out with adorable looking 'do's everyday. Kudos to you :)
4. She loves her big brothers, but has tried to teach Timothy a few lessons for being too much in her business. She's a biter, trying to nip that in the bud, but it's not the easiest thing.
5. Food is also a bit of an issue. It seems to be getting better, but she does have a tendency to shove all the food she can in her mouth at once-- something she was not doing as much in China. I believe it is a bit of survival instinct kicking in. She will also eat and eat and eat until she is bored. We take her out of the high chair and she has a F.I.T. fit, as though to say, "I wasn't done yet!!!!"
6. We don't need to put her on a scale to see that she has gained weight! She still has tiny little arms and legs, but a nice round belly now. Just the way I like 'em!
7. Her language is changing rapidly. Her words that are meaningful are "bye bye," "bubble," and "pop" (from a song that we like to sing her). Steve thinks she also said "doggie," but she hasn't said it again to confirm. She can sign "more," "thank you," "all done," "please," "eat," and "sit down." She says "mama," but has not said it purposefully to me yet. The orphanage director who dropped her off to us told us that she didn't have any words-- that still really surprises me given how many she has already obtained.
8. She LOVES tubby time. She and Timothy are two peas in a pod in that respect. Samuel generally goes along with them because it is always more fun to be with your buddies.
And I'll leave you with one of my current favorites...

Wow, it sounds like we have a lot of the same issues--food and sleep. Adorable picture! I'm loving the low maintenance hair for a boy! You are right, all those hair-dos for girls...well, I never pulled it off as well as other people! Glad to see things are looking up.
More posts about LilyJoy! I'm so glad things are going better with you two. :)
Praise God!!! So glad to hear that mom and daughter are bonding!!! Love the photo - you two look amazing, and so very full of JOY!
Unsolicted advice on hair. . .as a child I always wondered why my friends had brushes with brissles, and I didn't. Well, little Asian girls' hair requires a fine tooth comb, that's why - something I didn't fully appreciate until I tried putting my own daughter's hair up in hair pretties! And damp hair is a heck of a lot easier to work with than dry. Now, to keep them sitting still, who knows the magic behind that one!!!
Hello! I just found your blog! Congratulations to you...she is just beautiful! I was reading and wanted to let you know we also had the same [problem and it broke my heart too. Our daughter came home at 13 mo from a Guatemalan orphanage and hated me. She much prefered daddy and I really had to step up the attachment work for months. Now, she prefers me. I had to learn not to take it personally and am so glad that is past. WE still see some trauma triggers in her (18 months home), but nothing we can't work through. So happy for you and your little one! Nice to meet you!
Darling! Pretty hairdo-s tend to be hard as my daughter's previous perm gets in the way. Quick fix... get leave-in spray conditioner and it always smoothes out kinks quick. Shovel food... we are going through that as well. She choked ALOT when we first brought her home as I really am not sure how many solids she was fed. Wishing you the best in the sleep depot as that is hard to not get sleep. Glad to see her gaining weight and loving on that fabulous mama of hers. ;0) Love ya, Sara p.s. If you need anything, let me know.
Beautiful photos and equally beautiful update! Keep hanging in there, it will get easier and easier!
Congrats on finally being able to bring home your little girl! I am now expecting my first child in March and we're very excited! If I remember right, you used cloth diapers w/your boys and I'd be interested in getting a little perspective on that sometime. Love that last picture of you and LilyJoy
