Umm, God, have you checked your calendar lately?

What a weird week this has been, weather-wise! In February we had two GORGEOUS weeks of sunshine, probably reaching the high 50's. I was out working the ground of my soon-to-be garden, it was great! Then this week, we have had no less than FOUR DAYS of SNOW! We've had slight accumulations here at our house for the past 3 days-- it's just bizarre! And here it is the last day of March. I think I'm done with winter.

Home Study visit

We had our first home study visit today, which is the first big step of this whole adoption business (aside from paying the big bucks...). It was pretty harmless, but it sure feels good to be starting. Basically we need to finish up our home study in order to hop in line with our agency. We've been told that this process can take 6-8 weeks, depending on how quickly we can get all our end of paperwork to the social worker. Given that we finished and mailed 98% of it as soon as the visit was over (YEAH, baby!!), I'm hoping it will be on the shorter end of the timeframe! The last little piece is our notarized medical exams. Why should that be so difficult?? Poor Steve has been on the phone with his clinic, then I've been on the phone with his clinic, he has cancelled and rescheduled appointments, visited the doc twice, been poked twice (because the doc didn't actually READ the list of needed blood labs) and we still have to wait for all the results to go back in and get the stuff notarized. What a pain. My appointment is this week, so I've learned a lot from Steve's experience and I imagine it will go a lot smoother... Just keep your eye on the goal, right?

This is the day that the Lord has made

These past two days have made me so completely sick with spring fever since they have been absolutely gorgeous-- maybe even in the 60's and sunny!! As most of you know, we moved last October, so I haven't really gotten to experience "garden season" here yet. But that huge plot of vacant land in my backyard has been screaming for inhabitants and I have been making list after list of things to plant! I cannot wait!!! Gardening is probably the one thing that would possibly pull me away and distract me from all this paperchasing business we're doing right now. And it is so heavenly to have two little boys getting just as dirty as they could be right next to me with their own little trowels and hands. What more could I ask for?? I'm trying not to get too used to the weather yet, though, since I know this is our tricky little moment of February glory before the rain of spring. In the meantime, I'll just keep pulling weeds and getting ready for an amazing garden... well, at least a pretty good one.
