To all of my captive audience of three people who are reading this :), I'm sorry it has taken me so long to update you! We got LilyJoy yesterday afternoon at around 4pm. We had the guy in charge of the orphanage and about 4 other ladies with him and our guide all squished in our hotel room for our first introduction. We were the only family with a baby from FenYi SWI, so we got to take a few minutes to ask some questions. The first and BEST thing we found out is that she has been in foster care since she was about 3 months old! This is wonderful news to me as I have been very worried about her ability to attach and bond with a caregiver. Hopefully, her experience in that foster situation will help-- it also means that she is really grieving. She had bursts of crying yesterday from the moment we got her until she fell asleep. She slept all night, but woke up this morning completely panicked and crying again. I don't blame her, poor little thing!
As for LilyJoy herself, she is TINY!! We have met about 5 other families here at the Gloria Plaza Hotel who also received their little ones yesterday. Their babies are mostly like 12-14 months, being non-special needs babies. They are all PLUMP and round! So cute! Our little Lily is also very cute, but she is skinny! I brought one little 3-6 mo outfit, just because I thought it was adorable and had to at least try-- well, she fits just fine in it, thank you very much! It's a little short, but it's a dress, so no biggie.
Most of today, she has wanted VERY LITTLE to do with me. If Steve tries to hand her over, she cries and screams and does a little tantrum dance. He did get a quick shower in this morning, but we were standing in the bathroom waiting :) Right now, she is sleeping right on top of Steve, having a little nap. She did a little better this afternoon and I got her smile while Steve was holding (of course). She has such a cute little smile!
We did all of our provincial paperwork and formalities, so in the eyes of China, little Ping Ping is OURS!
Okay, Ping Ping just woke up and Steve's arm is about to fall off, so more later...

Would love to see pictures! I enjoyed reading the story of how things are going thus far. Can't believe she fit into a 3-6 mo. outfit. Wow! She is teeny!

HOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU! GIVE HER SOME TIME--SHE'll WARM UP! WOOOHOOOO!
Congratulations! I'm glad you have your LilyJoy with you now! Tiny is good- think of all the fun you and the boys will have plumping her up. Hope you have a safe journey home.
I had a feeling she'd be super petite. And no worries, she will take to you soon. Perhaps she was closer to Foster Mom and it's harder to "replace" her mama-figure. That's how Gracyn was after being in foster care for two years. Can't wait to see photos!!! Enjoy the rest of your time in Joy's homeland.
Congratualations ~ your baby girl is with her family exactly where she belongs. I know in time she will become a mama's girl ~ one day at a time:)
Congratulations! I can't wait to see pictures of your darling little girl. :)
it brings tears to my eyes imagining ping ping sleeping on steve's chest. i remember anna doing the same with brian when we were in ethiopia.
Congratulations! I have been faithfully following along! We are so excited and happy for you. Can't wait to see photos!
Love,

Courtney, I have been trying to leave a commment for days, but they don't "take". So glad these others got through. The boys are having an early quiet time after yesterday's Mariners game!! I quietly gazed at Timmy's sleeping face during the seventh inning and prayed in thanksgiving for all we have been given. You Go, Girl!!!
Mom
Congratulations on your little girl. My daughter was 3 1/2 at gotcha day and she definitely preferred men over women. I think it might be that the woman were the disciplinarians and the men the fun ones. She will warm up to you quickly.Hang in there. Good luck with the rest of your trip peace and happiness bonnie
Many a Fenyi girl has taken to Daddy before Mommy! (from one Fenyi mom to another) We are thrilled for you. and can't wait to hear more about your little cutie.
Hooray - so glad to hear you have your daughter! Don't worry about the behaviors right now. Just do the best you can and in a few months things will be a lot better. Hugs to you - Tamara
CONGRATS!!!! The fact that she was in foster care is GREAT! Yes, she will grieve harder, but it's SO great for attachment in the long run! No worries, she will catch up in size in NO TIME, so don't buy too many of one size! ;)(and I know it's tempting in China, so buy lots of sizes! =) )
Wow! I am so glad that things went well. I praying for restful sleep for all 3 of you and days of laughter to come. We're excited to meet her!
I'm thinking and praying for you every second of every day!! ~Laura
Wonderful!!! Chelsea and I were just talking this morning about how we couldn't wait for an update! I am so excited for you guys.
God bless!

So happy for you! I read your post on LCC and just want to reach out and give you a hug!! She is grieving and scared but will come around and know that she will love you just as much as those two beautiful boys of yours! Make her spend time with just mommy and only let daddy do the not so fun stuff. If she enjoys baths, you give them, if not daddy does them, etc. I can't wait to see your whole family united and to follow along on this amazing journey! Heather (FL)
Congratulations, Courtney & family!!! So glad to hear you have your daughter!!! Praying she'll adjust to being with you and begin to trust you. Praying for you also, that God will give you grace to see things from her perspective... you seem to be doing so great! Hope to see pictures soon :) :) No pressure though.. I know how hard it can be to do those "extras" when you are trying to bond with your daughter in a foreign land. BLESSINGS!!
Hi, I just got home about two weeks with our daughter from Guangxi. I wanted to say that she was the same way and only wanted her father for the first week or so. After we were in Guangzhou for a day or so she decided that I was okay. I know very well how painful it can be, I never imagined it would happen to us. Hang in there, it does get better!!
Marjorie
We are so excited for you. Give her time and she will warm up to both of you. Her sleeping on Steve's chest is a good start. Thats a great bonding thing. Have fun take lots of pictures and cherish this time. We love you . God Bless
